Reuben & Josie

Lead facilitators

Hi, we're Reuben & Josie. Good to meet you here!😊

Reuben is a professional young people wellbeing worker while Josie works as a paediatric nurse. We reside locally in Clifton and have a desire to see all - and especially young - people thrive holistically.

We previously were engaged in providing youth pastoral services within the Church of England, and have also had profound personal experiences of prayer that we love to share!

We're part of a local church, and have for many years been involved in leading prayer activities on personal and social wellbeing issues with people and groups from across Bristol.

Meet some of our prayer family / team below, send us an email or drop-in to our next wellbeing prayer evening. We'd love to meet you!

Paul

Prayer leader

Hi, I’m Paul. I’m a computer programmer, married, with two children who are both at university in Cardiff.

I like photography, getting out, walking and visiting places. I love being outside!

I moved to Bristol back in 1997 to help plant City Church. Before that I spent 7 years on the pastoral team of Church of Christ the King in Brighton, where I did a lot of pastoral work that included praying for emotional healing, praying for the sick and otherwise challenged.

I’ll take this chance to encourage you to look into and consider the person of Jesus, and you will find in him as I did, the most extraordinary guide and helper one can have.

Mirelly Silveira

Student link worker

I came to the UK from Brazil as part of a PhD exchange programme, researching quantum mechanics in chemistry.

Throughout my life, God has blessed me with the ability to connect with people from various backgrounds such as academic, professional and religious.

Since being here, I have been blessed to learn alongside people from many nations, share stories of God’s goodness and see how Christ unites us beyond language, nationality and culture.

My time in Bristol has been a special time of spiritual growth, learning not only to serve others, but how to love and support people from all nations with the heart of Christ.

I have also been encouraged by the story of George Muller who lived in Bristol and faithfully recorded thousands of answered prayers throughout his life, which has inspired me to be more intentional about recognising and recording God’s acts which are so easily missed in everyday life!

Have you ever stopped to think about how many prayers you have spoken to God throughout your life? Whether a few or hundreds of requests, thanksgivings, quiet conversations or just tears, you may not be able to count them all but Heaven can. God knows every prayer whispered in secret, every sigh of our soul, and every moment we seek His presence. What a privilege it is to know that we have a Father who hears us and walks with us through every season of our story.

Hannah

Prayer assistant

Hey, my name is Hannah, I’m a singer, songwriter and young musician. I love community and enjoy cooking and baking.

Although I grew up in church, in my late childhood and early teens I faced a huge battle in my mind. I struggled with my identity, anxiety, panic attacks, fear and depression, until I didn’t know who I was any more. During that time, my hope in Jesus kept me going and eventually brought me to a place of freedom.

One Friday night when I was 13 (year 9), at a church youth meeting, I remember feeling very low and not really knowing what was going on within myself, yet trying to act like I was okay. That was the reality of my life then – hiding in my sorrows. Later that night during the meeting, for the first time I encountered the Love of Jesus Christ in a personal way – not religion, but something real, pure and genuine.

Since choosing to completely put my faith in Jesus, I can confidently say that I have overcome and my pain brought me to my purpose. (Psalms 30:5.) The Power of Prayer in the name of Jesus helped me overcome various challenges and cycles I once believed I could never escape. Prayer made me feel seen and heard, not only by others but by God, and provided the inspiration, strength and empowerment that has shaped me into the young woman I am today.

Prayer for Wellbeing helps me continue building faith and trust in God. I’d highly recommend it and look forward to meeting and possibly supporting your wholeness journey as well.
